Four kinds of attendance machine, and where each one fits
The method decides whether the queue moves at shift change and whether anyone can punch for a friend. For the full comparison, read fingerprint vs face vs RFID vs card.
Fingerprint attendance machine
Best for: Offices and shops with clean-handed staff
The lowest cost per entry point, familiar to everyone, and quick to enrol.
Watch for · Worn, dry or dusty fingers read poorly — common on factory floors and construction sites.
Face recognition attendance
Best for: Larger offices, hospitals, schools and shift work
Contactless and fast at shift change, and it stops one person punching for another.
Watch for · Needs a reasonably lit spot and liveness detection, so a photo on a phone cannot punch in.
RFID card attendance
Best for: Students, contract workers and anyone who should not be enrolled biometrically
The cheapest way to scale, and no biometric data is stored.
Watch for · Cards can be handed to a colleague — pair with face or fingerprint where proxy punching matters.
Multi-mode terminal
Best for: Mixed workforces and multi-site businesses
Face, fingerprint and card on one device — each person uses whatever works for them, in one report.
Watch for · Costs more per terminal. Worth it where one method fails for part of the staff.
09:30Brands we install
ZKTeco and Matrix
Two brands, chosen for the range they cover and the service support behind them. The survey decides which one suits your headcount and sites.
ZKTeco
Fingerprint, face and card attendance terminals across a wide price range. A strong fit for small and mid-sized offices, shops, clinics and factories.
Matrix
Indian-made COSEC attendance and access control terminals. Suited to larger offices and multi-site businesses that want attendance and door access on one platform.

How attendance reaches your payroll
Five steps, set up once. For the detail on push and pull integrations, see connecting biometric attendance to payroll.
01
Enrol
Each employee's face, fingerprint or card is registered once, against their employee ID and shift.
02
Punch
Staff punch in and out at the terminal. Punches are stored on the device, so a network outage does not lose the day.
03
Sync
The terminal syncs to the attendance software over your office network — LAN or WiFi, depending on the model.
04
Rules
Shifts, grace time, late marks, half-days, overtime and holidays are set once, so the report does the arithmetic HR used to do by hand.
05
Export
Month-end attendance goes to payroll as Excel or CSV in the columns it expects, or straight into your HRMS where it supports an integration.
We integrate attendance — we do not sell payroll software. Whether payroll runs in an HRMS such as Zoho People, greytHR or Keka, or in a spreadsheet, we make the attendance data arrive in the format it needs.

Connecting attendance to payroll
13:00After it goes live
Set up for the DPDP Act, and maintained for a year
Biometric attendance is legal in India, but staff should know what is collected, and the data must be secured and deleted when people leave. Read is biometric attendance legal in India.

14:00How we fit it
From survey to the first shift that punches in
- 01
Free site survey
An engineer checks headcount, entry points, lighting, the network, and where staff actually queue at shift change.
- 02
Machine and placement
Fingerprint, face, card or multi-mode, ZKTeco or Matrix — chosen per entry point and written on an itemised quote.
- 03
Installation and network
Terminals mounted at the right height, powered and connected, with door locks wired in where you have asked for them.
- 04
Enrolment day
We enrol every employee on site, so the system is live from the first shift rather than weeks later.
- 05
Rules and integration
Shifts, grace time and overtime configured, and the month-end export tested against your payroll or HRMS.
- 06
